One of our old favorites is now ridiculously cheap. We love this air fryer. It's fast, compact, and simple. It won't steam your veggies or tell you the doneness of your meat like fancier air fryers, but it's perfect for throwing in some frozen fries for a quick dinner after work.

Ninja vs Instant Pot - which is a better two-drawer air fryer?

If you asked us last year, we would've given the win to Instant Pot. The Instant Pot Vortex Plus XL is an incredibly efficient two-drawer air fryer, the two-drawer version of the Instant Vortex Plus, our favorite air fryer.

But Ninja snatched the crown with the DoubleStack. It offers more food in a sleeker countertop footprint. It can nestle between cookbooks and cereal boxes in a way that the Instant air fryer can't. That's unbeatable.

What is a French door air fryer?

Air fryer accessories – how to make the most of your air fryer

Recently, I compiled a kitchen gift guide for the holidays and I tracked down all the little extras that make air-fried food taste that much better.

I know it's called 'air frying', but my fries come out crispier when I use a little bit of olive oil. I don't pour it straight into the basket: that would defeat the entire point of air frying. Instead, I spray a few squirts of olive oil onto the bottom of the basket to help my food retain moisture and stop it from sticking to the basket.

For quick and convenient clean-up, I like to use air fryer liners for single-serve breakfasts and desserts. I use silicone liners, because they're reusable, and easy to clean in a bowl of warm, soapy water.

One of the best ways to save money is to buy refurbished old appliances. They're often just as good as newer models, but you can save a lot of money.

One of the best ways to save money on air fryer deals is to size down. Air fryers can hold a surprising amount of food, so you don't always need that 10-quart behemoth. Sometimes, a smaller air fryer works just as well while saving you more money.

The popularity of air fryers means that companies push out lots of different versions of the same basic model. This means that models with tiny differences - a slight bigger drawer or function - can be much cheaper than their most recent iteration. For example:

I'm usually not as keen on round air fryers, since a square or rectangular basket will offer better cooking space. However, this Ninja performs well and it's affordable. If, like me, you like quick, capsule coffee, Nespresso's launch will be music to your ears. The brand makes objectively the best single-serve coffee machines on the market, but their aluminum pods were always the catch that stopped them from achieving complete coffee perfection.

If you're as thrilled as I am, you've probably got a million questions running through your head. I'm here to give you all the details about what exactly they are when they're launching, where you can find them, and which Nespresso machines they'll work with.

When are Nespresso launching paper capsules?

During Milan Design week (April 16 - 21), Nespresso are launching their sustainable capsules which have been in the works, undergoing rigorous R&D for three years.

The brand will be marking the moment with an iconic 'Paper Worlds' installation, designed by Studio Ossidiana from April 16 to 21 in the Brera Design District, which you can see in the image above. The brand describes it as 'a captivating piece or urban design, crafted by the young Italian designers Alessandra Covini and Giovanni Bellotti from Studio Ossidiana.' They've represented the whole story of how Nespresso developed the compostable capsule, showing you the materials used and different stages of innovation. If you're in the area, you can taste the new coffee too.

What is the paper capsule collection?

The new paper capsules collection is Nespresso's first completely compostable offering. Their main offering is still the aluminum pods. Whilst these are recyclable, you'll need to be willing to make the effort to dispose of them sustainably. The compostable ones can go in the foodwaste.

Nespresso's paper selection is compatible with all Original models, so if you own a Vertuo, you'll need to wait a little longer before you can pop paper pods. Nespresso promises that their newest offering delivers on 'the same unforgettable taste experience just with an additional option for disposal.'

As if that's not exciting enough, Nespresso has launched these pods in five new coffee flavors. They've been developed by the Nespresso Coffee Masters. According to Nespresso, these experts have selected 'some of the best beans from different countries of origin. They've been chosen specifically for each coffee and accompanied by a tailored roasting process to enhance their characteristics.' 

The new range includes Ispirazione Aosta, Ispirazione Emilia, Ispirazione Sicilia, Decaffeinato and Peru Organic. I'm aware that Nespresso's names don't always tell you exactly what you want to know about your coffee, so I've gone into more detail on the flavor profiles you'll have on offer:

• Ispirazione Sicilia: Nespresso describes this as a bold, dark, and intense roast. The complex notes come from Arabica beans, grown in Brazil and Colombia. Expect notes of chocolate and aromatic woods, with a hint of grain.
• Ispirazione Emilia: rich, complex, and caramel-ey, this coffee is crafted from a blend of Arabica and Robusta beans grown in Mexico and Italy. Expect some fresh acidity too.
• Ispirazione Aosta: this light roast is fruity and sweet, with notes of cookies and fruit. It's crafted from Colombian and Brazillian Arabica beans, perfect for espresso coffee.
• Peru Organic: this is exactly as the name suggests. It's single-origin, organic, coffee which has come straight from the Peruvian Andes. It's a lightly acidic, fruity medium roast.
• Decaffeinato: for those who want coffee without the caffeine kick, this promises a dark-roasted blend of Arabica and Robusta beans, mainly from Brazil and Colombia. It's intense and aromatic, with cocoa and fruity notes.

If you love coffee with unparallelled eco credentials, there's more. The coffee in all of these pods is sourced from Nespresso's AAA Sustainable Quality program. I actually don't think that the brand shouts enough about this. It's been running for 20 years, with more than 150,000 farmers in 18 countries. They work to create a sustainable supply chain of coffee, saying that they are 'dedicated to improving the yield and quality of crops and the livelihoods of communities of origin.' 

Where can I buy the new capsules?

The compostable capsule collection will be available in 60 selected Nespresso Boutiques from May 2024. We'll update you on the locations when Nespresso officially releases them, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll be readily available online shortly after.

If you like to know the science and details behind your capsules, we've got all of the details for you. Each capsule is made from 82% paper pulp. Nespresso says 'we use a high precision forming process and proprietary technology to make these capsules. They're outfitted with a thin, 1mm biodegradable layer, which acts as a protective barrier against oxidation, preserving the coffee's flavor profile, maintaining the Nespresso high-quality cup experience.'

The brand has certification from OK Compost Industrial & Home from TUV Austria, confirming that they can be disposed of in your food waste and public organic waste bins.

The brand has been trialing paper capsules in France and Switzerland with great success.

Which Nespresso machines should you buy?

If the only thing that was stopping you from going all-in on Nespresso was the aluminum pods, you'll want some recommendations for which Nespresso machine to buy. I've dedicated a whole buying guide to the best Nespresso machines, but here's my top three from the Original line (which is the one that's compatible with the paper pods).

If you love the idea of compostable capsules and you're not fussed about the brand that you have, there are some other options on the market. Here are the best ones:

Working with U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission, they have identified potential 'fire and laceration hazards'. The manufacturer reports that about 4.8 million units sold in the U.S. and 117,000 sold in Canada are affected. They pose two risks; either overheating or the blender blades breaking off.

BlendJet issued a statement saying that 'while none of the reported incidents resulted in serious injury or significant property damage, out of an abundance of caution, our company updated the base of the BlendJet 2 to feature thicker blades and an improved electrical configuration'. These updates have been in place for months and any BlendJet 2s currently for sale are not affected by the recall.

BlendJet recall - what to do now

Recalls started on December 28, 2023 with BlendJet offering a safe replacement of the model. If you own a BlendJet 2 and are concerned that you may be affected by the voluntary recall, you can check the serial number on BlendJet's site. If that is not possible, customers can call BlendJet at (844) 334-0562 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.

Any BlendJet 2 with the serial number 5543 and greater is an updated model and thus not part of the recall. 

BlendJet has said that 'the vast majority of customers who purchased a BlendJet 2 in November of this year (2023), or afterwards, received the updated base with their blender'. Other BlendJet 2 models which are not included in the recall are the special edition lines "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "Happy Viking," or the "Disney Princess". These all have the updated base.

If your blender is subject to the recall you should stop using it immediately and contact BlendJet for a free replacement base. Consumers affected will need to remove the rubber seal from the base into three or more pieces and send a photo to BlendJet showing the serial number. They are advised to dispose of the base following all environmental, federal, state, and local regulations.

Can I get a replacement?

Yes, BlendJet have offered no quibbles replacements for any of the BlendJet 2 blenders on recall. They say you will receive a new base and lid, but to keep the jar of your current BlendJet 2. They have more information in their recall FAQs. Other BlendJet models remain unaffected and will not be included in the recall.

The Christmas decor in the White House acts as inspiration for the entire American public, and the Christmas tree decor is the center of it. Since the 1960s, American First Ladies have chosen a theme for the tree and picked decor that centers around the concept. We browsed the last 60 years of White House Christmas trees and landed on these three as our favorites.

1. John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy's 1961 'Nutcracker' Themed Tree

This beautiful tree gets as many points for its decor as its story: Jackie Kennedy was the first First Lady to choose a Christmas Tree theme, according to the White House Historical Association. The tree was themed 'Nutcracker' based on Petr Tchaikovsky's ballet. The festive tree included ornamental toys, birds, angels, and straw ornaments created by disabled and elderly craftspeople throughout the United States.

2. The Clinton Christmas 'Santa's Workshop' Tree in 1997

Hilary Clinton's red and green 1997 tree invokes an air of Christmas tradition. The 18.5-foot Frasier fir tree took on a 'Santa's Workshop' theme under the former first lady's direction. Cross-stiched ornaments from the National Needlework Association, pieces from the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and American glass artisan ornaments adorned the beautiful tree.

3. The Obama's 2009 Eco-Friendly 'Reflect, Rejoice, and Renew' tree

This purpose-focused tree is just as beautiful as it is impactful with its modern Christmas decor. Michelle Obama's first White House Christmas tree introduced a 'Reflect, Rejoice, and Renew' theme focused on sustainability. 

Its yellow and blue theme provided an unexpected color scheme, and several aspects of the tree revolved around eco-friendly design. First, decorators used ornaments left over from previous administrations, remade by community groups throughout the country. Furthermore, it uses energy-saving LED bulbs. Best of all, after the holidays were over, six of the trees on display at the White House were replanted by the National Parks Service. 

Sometimes, inspiration comes in the least expected of places. This year, if you're stuck on decor ideas. from minimalist Christmas decor to maximalist Christmas decor, the White House can provide some much-needed ideas.

The singer showcased the timeless kitchen cabinet color, which in her space, creates a stark contrast against her white backsplash and marble countertops. With many bold moody colors, you have to approach with caution, but deep blue-grey is a huge exception – as designers explain, this blue is more versatile than we may initially expect. 

'Dark blue-gray cabinets will be popular in 2024 for many reasons,' comments Kimberly Horton, the owner of KH Home Designs. 'This particular palette offers a timeless and sophisticated look that can work well in a variety of design styles. This classic color combination has an enduring appeal that doesn't go out of style.'

'The hue is incredibly versatile and can be paired with various countertop materials, backsplash options, and hardware finishes. For example, you can pair the warmth of bronze or brass, but you can also use a cooler kitchen color scheme and incorporate silver or black hardware.'

There is, however, more to this shade than its versatility. As Kimberly explains, while we may be tempted to opt for a bright, light tone for our kitchen cabinets, we should, instead, look to colors like Maren's to add more depth and dimension to our space. 

'By selecting a dark blue cabinet with a gray undertone, you are elevating the space and creating the look of a professionally designed kitchen. These cabinets can be an excellent choice for homeowners looking to create a stylish, long-lasting, and functional space.'

As mentioned, Maren's cabinets juxtapose against the other features in her space, creating a contrast that comes with an inevitable aesthetic value. However, as Kimberly explains, its good looks may just add value to your home in the process.

'Because of its versatility and broad appeal, this beautiful color palette can increase the resale value of a home by offering a stylish and well-maintained kitchen,' she says. 'This contrast can also add depth and visual interest to the space.'

Plus, Kimberly isn't alone in her color trend forecast. Tom Edmonds, the design director at Lewis Alderson, mirrors her predictions, adding that his dark hue is a bolder step for the original gray kitchen that has dominated kitchen trends in recent years. 

'The gray kitchen theme has continued for some years now, with darker hues such as midnight blue and olive green creeping in over the past two years or so. Dark blue-grey kitchen cabinets will continue to be a key theme in 2024 because they are such classic, timeless colors,' he explains.

'Some may choose to use dark blue-grey cabinetry throughout or just on the island; either works equally well. It is a versatile color that shows no sign of abating for luxury and high-street kitchen design.'

Blue-gray may be set to influence how we decorate in 2024, with its versatility, aesthetic qualities, and potential to add value to our home, we expect this tone's popularity is unlikely to waver. So, while changing up our cabinets may feel like a large investment both in terms of time and budget, we'd say it's one of the safest changes you can make.

We've long admired Shark vacuums for their quality and reasonable price. I've argued for years that if you can't afford a Dyson – and at those prices, that's most of of us – a Shark is a very good replacement. After years of testing vacuums, I'm confident that while Dyson tend to be the best vacuums, Shark present much better value.

What's more, I've done the maths and these are much better deals than on any other retailer. One of the deals is among the best Shark discounts I've ever seen. 

What are Shark Days?

Shark Days are running through October 20th, offering up to 51% off a wide range of Shark Vacuums. The deal mostly concerns vacuums, though the Shark HyperAIR hair dryer is also on markdown at Walmart. Though we don't yet know how low Shark prices will go during Prime Big Deals Days, I'd be very surprised to see them go lower than these discounts.

Are there better Shark deals elsewhere?

No. I've been through all of Walmart's main competitors and none of them have prices this low. I'd be amazed if they go any lower on Amazon unless there's a flash sale during Prime Big Deals Days. Even Shark themselves aren't selling these vacuums at these prices. If you want a high-quality, relatively budget-friendly vacuum, I think this is your best chance before Black Friday. 

What are the competitors to Shark?

Of course, all this assumes that Shark are worth buying in the first place. Here are some head-to-head comparisons to help you decide.

It's obvious from the above that the Dyson is the better vacuum. It's quieter, and easier to use and store. It is also simply better, picking up more dirt than the Shark Vertex. However, I always cringe a little when I recommend Dyson because they're so expensive. Outside of sales events, I think you should opt for Shark Vertex if you're on a budget. The difference between the two is negligible, and unless you're a total cleaning obsessive you may not even notice it. 

The Shark Stratos is a much better choice than the Dyson Ball Animal 2. It does a great job on pet hair in particular, and has anti-odor cartridges that remove pet hair smells. Best of all, you can lift the center out of this vacuum and use it as a handheld, making it incredibly easy to vacuum stairs and tidy up awkward spots like the corner of ceilings. The Dyson is ruthless on carpet, but it's pretty unwieldy. In fact, the only place the Dyson is better is that it has a larger dustbin, which means fewer trips to the trashcan. 

The above vacuums are pretty hard to split. The Roomba is a better vacuum. When it comes to just vacuuming, I'd pick the Roomba. However, the Shark AI Ultra can also mop, and while the performance isn't flawless, it's a lot better value than the Roomba. It can also hold more. If it were down to me I'd probably opt for the Shark, but I'd go for the Roomba if I had carpet throughout my home, because in that case the mop on the Shark is useless.

How we test

At Homes & Gardens we like to get hands-on experience with all the products we feature. You can learn more how we test products in our dedicated guide, and there's a more specific rundown of our vacuum test process in how we test vacuums.

We review vacuums in our test center and in our own homes for weeks and sometimes months. In the test centre, we test each vacuum on carpet, linoleum and wood flooring. We test them with flour and sugar, which is a common kitchen spill but also makes a good proxy for dust and dead skin; cereal, a common mess if you have kids but also a good test for other crumbs; and also old hair extensions, so we can see if a vacuum gets hair stuck in its rollers. 

We also make sure to test also vacuums in homes with pets, so we know exactly how well each vacuum can pick up pet fur, how the pets reacted, and how well they remove any lingering pet smells.

Final thoughts

I don't think you'll see better prices on Shark vacuums over the next couple weeks, but Shark are far from the only vacuum brand on the market. There are plenty of other vacuums for pet hair and robot vacuums that are well worth considering. 

'Before my August trips, I spent a few days grooming, repotting, rearranging my orchid collection in the big glass house in Bedford,' Martha says alongside photos of the healthy blooms. 'That work paid off, and orchids are blooming profusely. I love these wild and curious beauties adorning my home.'

One look at Martha's abundant blooms is enough encouragement for us to follow suit, but how easy is the process? Firstly, knowing when to repot orchids is essential to success. 

'You need to repot your orchid when it looks like the roots are spilling out the top of the pot; I would say once every one to two years, depending on the variety,' says florist Kate Kern. 'It’s really important to repot an orchid when the roots are beginning to outgrow the pot.'

Repotting and reviving an orchid – inspired by Martha Stewart

When it comes to repotting, Kate recommends placing our orchids in loose bark and moss that will break down and allow the orchid to breathe as it grows over time. Without loose bark or moss, there is less space around the roots, meaning it is harder for the air to circulate and water to drain away. 'All of this can lead to root rot or some kind of disease,' Kate warns. 

After planting, we should check back frequently to ensure they are a healthy green color. 

'If they look soft or brown, then there is often too much water in the pot; it needs more space to drain away the excess,' Kate explains. 'Meanwhile, if they go white or gray, they might not be getting enough; we always water our orchids with a mister or spray [such as this one from Amazon] that prevents the orchid from being overloaded with too much liquid at once.'

Lastly, choosing the right-sized pot is impactful in getting our orchid to rebloom. Kate says we should opt for a pot larger than the original container. 'It should help to bring any orchid back to its former glory!'

To our delight (and perhaps unsurprisingly), Stanley Tucci has teamed up with GreenPan and Williams Sonoma to create a beautiful new kitchen cookware line. Located in Studio City, Los Angeles, the property served as the exterior of the Brady family home from 1969 until 1974, when the show concluded. All the interiors were filmed on a sound stage. 

In 2018, HGTV purchased the property for $3.5 million (reportedly 'double the listing price') before filming its renovation in A Very Brady Renovation, which aired in 2019. During the series, they invested $1.9 million into the mid-century estate – creating a replica of the set design from the original series. 

Tina Trahan, who primarily resides in Bel Air, recently purchased the home and has admitted the property was 'the worst investment ever' – and plans to use the estate for fundraising and charitable events. She says she felt HGTV paid too much for the house, as it had no working appliances in order to look identical to the Brady home.

'No one is going in there to make pork chops and applesauce in that kitchen,' she told the Wall Street Journal. 'Anything you might do to make the house livable would take away from what I consider artwork.'

'Nobody is going to live in it,' she adds. 'It’s almost like a life-size dollhouse.'

Marcy Roth from Douglas Elliman, who represented Tina Trahan, told the WSJ that she thought her client was joking when she announced she was buying the property. 'She was like, 'No, I'm not kidding, I'm obsessed,' she recalled. 

The agent described the house as 'reportedly the second most photographed home in the USA after the White House and said the home came with 'bright orange formica kitchen counters, to the blue bunk beds and pink twin beds, and let's not forget about the groovy attic.' 

For the $3.2 million price tag, Tina and her guests can also enjoy the newly renovated home, which includes the iconic floating staircase, the burnt orange-and-avocado green kitchen, and a backyard with a swing set and Tiger's dog house.

HGTV plans to use a portion of the proceeds from the sale to help fund the Turn Up! Fight Hunger initiative – working to help young people living with hunger in the US through No Kid Hungry.

When looking for a longer-lasting kitchen cabinet color, Jonathan and Drew Scott urge us to go dark – saying that these hues can add 'personality,' 'warmth,' and 'elegance' to any sized space. And we confess that we're totally convinced. 

'Kitchens are meant to feel lived in, and they take a beating. Dark cabinets can hide some of that wear and tear,' Drew says via their blog. 

After looking back at the brother's design portfolio, their revelation is somewhat unsurprising. They have been known to experiment with varying dark tones – from rich greens and blues – to deep blacks (as seen below). 

'We know: Choosing a color can be scary. What if it doesn't work? What if it makes the room feel too dark? But done in the right way, a darker shade can add personality and warmth,' they explain.

'It can also be quite elegant, which is a whole new feeling for some of our clients. They think they'd never be able to "afford" a kitchen that looks like that. Well, they can, and so can you.'

And this reassurance couldn't come at a more fitting time. According to design experts, dark kitchen cabinets will sit among the most exciting color trends for 2024 – and their appeal is only growing stronger as we fall into the darker months.

'As the days get shorter and the evenings get darker, it's natural for us to want to be surrounded by deeper tones in the home to create a feeling of coziness. However, introducing these hues into your kitchen design can bring warmth and sophistication while maintaining an atmosphere that is easy to live with all year round,' adds Benchmarx Kitchens' design expert, Ruth Lavender.

'Dark blues, greens, and greys have become staple colors to create an interior scheme that embodies the 'moody' trend, and it's easy to see why,' Ruth says. Meanwhile, 'black and storm grey are gaining momentum in kitchen design, as well as warming options like copperleaf, which brings a cozy yet sophisticated finish.'

As Jonathan and Drew Scott, and Ruth note, experimenting with these hues can be nerve-wracking – but going dark doesn't mean we need to sacrifice our light or white kitchens completely.

'These hues maintain a level of softness that draws you in, working brilliantly with greys, whites, pinks, and more to create countless looks and finishes,' Ruth explains.
In many cases, we can use our dark kitchen cabinets as a solid base color, but incorporate other warmer shades, textures, metallics, and stone to create something that reflects our style. 

'Alternatively, you could choose two complementing cabinet door colors, such as midnight blue and French white, to add softness to the deeper tones and brighten the space while still enjoying those moody, darker shades.'

The New York-based designer known for dressing the likes of Viola Davis, Michelle Obama, and Elle Fanning teamed up with the British paint powerhouse to create Carte Blanche – a capsule collection of 12 shades that mirror his design ideology – rooted in pure, indulgent color. 

Much like his garments, the collection, launching September 7th, bursts with vibrancy – composing four neutrals, eight statement paints, and three wallpaper prints that bring Roger's 'distinctive flair' to our homes. 'This palette of handcrafted paint and paper places the emphasis on expressive, individual style,' said Farrow & Ball as they announced their latest paint trends. But how exactly do these shades celebrate individuality?

According to Farrow & Ball, these hues are all inspired by Louisiana-native Christopher's 'cherished memories of food and family,' but while they are personal to the designer, they are versatile enough to take on new meanings in our own spaces – however, we chose to play with them. 

'I’m obsessed with Christopher’s use of color, and his lines are impeccable. You can’t help but be drawn to the exquisite quality of his pieces, a key reason why he felt like such a natural partner for us,' Farrow & Ball's Creative Director Charlotte Cosby says. 'Craft and attention to detail are intrinsic to both of our processes, so I always knew this collaboration was going to be something special.' But what exactly does this mean for future color trends?

H&G's Digital Editor, Jennifer Ebert, explains that while decorating with neutrals will always be on trend and these grounding hues will always have their place, the influence of social media means bolder palettes, like Carte Blanche, have a growing influence on how we may design in the future.

'Soothing, earthy shades are certainly not falling out of favor; we can't help but feel inspired by the more vibrant spaces saved on our Instagram and Pinterest boards,' Jen says. 'We have abundant design inspiration at our fingertips, and the more we look at playful, joyous homes, the more we want this look for ourselves.'

'Whether we opt for a statement accent wall – or experiment with something subtler, like a colored door frame – these powerful color choices will only make our homes happier – and reflect our most fun personalities in the process.'

However, Black Friday is looming on the horizon too, which traditionally sees huge discounts on top tech and appliances. Savvy shoppers will be wondering if they should make the most of Labor Day and get discounts ASAP or wait for Black Friday.

As head of eCommerce here at Homes & Gardens, I spend my life reviewing products and covering sales periods, especially Black Friday, so I know exactly what is and isn't worth your attention. I also spoke to some consumer-spending experts for their insider tips and tricks.

The short answer is that you should hold out until Black Friday for tech and small appliances, but you can find some great deals on mattresses and outdoor furniture. 

Is it ever worth buying on Labor Day?

If you're shopping for tech and small appliances, hold out for Black Friday. However, you may not see better prices on mattresses and outdoor furniture until next year.

Mark Vena, CEO and Principal Analyst at SmartTech Research, told me that Labor Day isn't really a sales day. Unlike Black Friday, which is an event in its own right, Labor Day is (rightfully) focused on celebrating the achievements of the American worker. That means Black Friday is usually a better bet for savings. 

'The best prices are often seen on Black Friday, with massive discounts on everything from TVs and gaming consoles to headphones and tablets,' says Mark. 'It's worth waiting for Black Friday if you have your heart set on a particular high-end tech product, as the savings can be substantial'. 

However, he points out that there are occasionally some great deals on Labor Day if you don't want to buy top-line products. 'Retailers often use this holiday to clear out older models of appliances, laptops, and smartphones to make room for new inventory. So, if you're not fixated on having the latest and greatest, you can find great deals on slightly older but still highly functional gadgets.'

Mattresses

There are often big sales on mattresses around Labor Day, particularly on cooling mattresses, which see a big drop in popularity after the summer. 'Mattress retailers promote a bevy of deals on select mattress brands and styles and will usually have special financing deals and extra perks', says Andrea Woroch, money saving expert. 

I'm expecting to see bigger flash sales on Labor Day itself, but there are already some big savings to be found. 

Outdoor living

Perhaps the smartest items to shop on Labor Day are outdoor living items like furniture, grills, and pool items. 'Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer and seasonal goods that you use during this hot season will no longer be needed', says Andrea. 'Retailers need to push excess inventory out to make room for fall and winter holiday goods, offering dramatic price cuts on everything from grills to patio furniture to beach chairs and pool floats'. Mark agrees, adding that 'you can snag discounts on outdoor tech like grills, patio speakers, and smart home devices, which are ideal for end-of-summer or early-fall upgrades.'

If you didn't update your furniture on Memorial Day, this is a really clever bet. You can find huge discounts – Andrea's seen 75% off in previous years – and you still have a few weeks of good weather to enjoy your buys as September slowly becomes more autumnal. When the first snow hits, you can store the furniture away for next spring after minimal weathering in the early autumn. You save hundreds, get high quality furniture, and keep it in good condition for the next summer. 

Should I wait for Black Friday?

Unless it's a mattress or outdoor furniture, you're generally better off waiting until Black Friday. Mark is a lot more bullish on this than I am - he says Black Friday is the 'reigning champion' of sales events. He says 'the best prices are often seen on Black Friday, with massive discounts on everything from TVs and gaming consoles to headphones and tablets. It's worth waiting for Black Friday if you have your heart set on a particular high-end product, as the savings can be substantial'. 

The selection is much wider on Black Friday. Andrea says that Black Friday will see everything from 'clothing and accessories for a few bucks, to 70% off select electronics, to streaming services for $1 a month'. She points out that it's not just online, either. Even services like gym memberships, spa treatments and even medical care are discounted on Black Friday.

That's because Black Friday is a chance for retailers to sell off stock that they couldn't sell before Thanksgiving. It's also the starting gun for buying Christmas and Hanukkah gifts, so retailers want to sell off cheap stock before they start selling more expensive last-minute gifts in the runup to the holidays. Andrea adds, 'companies know that people are out looking for deals on holiday gifts and are more willing to buy if they get something on sale. When there's an increase in the volume of sales, businesses can reduce prices and still make a profit because they're selling more. Plus, many have to reduce prices to keep up with competition.' Labor Day doesn't have any of these pressures, so there aren't as many discounts. 

Labor Day and Black Friday FAQs

While these tips and tricks are all well and good, a deal you can't afford is never a good option. Though there's a lot of hype for these sales events, not every discount is a genuine saving. If a product is poor, or doesn't work for you, it's not a bargain. Make sure to do your research by looking through product reviews.

As mentioned, The Nest tricks us into thinking that its interiors are more spacious than they are – but what does the home get so right? When it comes to small room design, it is perhaps no secret that natural light is our most powerful size-enhancing tool – and this is evident here, where every design decision emphasizes sunlight. 

Most notably, the small living room features large windows that allow the light to fill in the space – but tall ceilings and warm green-painted walls reflect the light further. And, of course, a statement chandelier will continue the job once the sun sets over the Buckeye State.

Small space tricks aside (for a moment, at least), other stand-out design features include the cozy cream sofa, gas fireplace, and organic wooden twist on the traditional gallery wall. 

In the kitchen, the off-white walls continue the spacious color scheme, while the vertical cabinets (seen above the stove) remind us to tap into otherwise disused storage space in our kitchens. The room comes complete with cooking basics and an Oxo Brew 8-cup coffee maker for a perfect caffeine fix. 

Despite its slightly darker paint choices, the bedroom does not feel compact. Instead, the space blurs the boundaries between indoor/outdoor living – complete with a sliding glass door that opens onto the deck. And, like the living space, the bedroom cleverly uses lighting (or, in this case, task lighting) through the nightstand fixtures that offer pockets of light for reading. 

Outside, The Nest's true size becomes evident, but its compact square footage is something to be celebrated. The exterior area also features a dining table for two, a firepit, a tiipii bed, and a hot tub.

This blend of cozy fall spices in an indulgent latte has become part of the scents of fall, wafting out of cafés as the air picks up a chill. 

Reportedly, pumpkin spice will be return to Starbucks chains on the 24th of November. I spoke to our in-house coffee expert to get all the detail, and how to make your own in a coffee maker if you can't wait that long. 

When is Starbucks' pumpkin spice latte returning?

Word on the street is that pumpkin spice will return on the 24th of November. If not then, then the following week. Fall doesn't officially start until you can grab one of these, so we'll be checking in with our contacts at Starbucks and poking our head round our local on our commute into work. 

Why is pumpkin spice so popular?

Pumpkin spice is popular because it tastes good. Our resident coffee expert Laura Honey says that 'the flavors in your pumpkin spice coffee taste like Thanksgiving'. The base is just a simple latte, but the extra mix of nutmeg, ginger, cloves and cinnamon that go into pumpkin spice are wonderfully homely. The smell of it in a café or even your own home is perfect for getting you into the spirit of the season and the long run up to the holidays. 

Why is pumpkin spice controversial?

Pumpkin spice is controversial because it's popular. Starbucks reportedly sell 20 million of these a year, and anything that popular will end up denigrated as 'a basic'. Personally, I find a pumpkin spice latte a lot nicer than the complicate reams of orders some people give in the Starbucks queue, but it's so popular that people inevitably equate it as a boring, obvious choice. It's all pretty harmless in the end - there's nothing wrong with treating yourself to a delicious drink, even if you get teased for it. 

More serious, however, are the health implications. On a blustery fall day, sometimes only pumpkin spice hits the spot, but the sugar content in these drinks is incredibly high. A venti pumpkin spice latte has an eye-watering 50 grams of sugar. That's 1/3 of a cup, or a whopping four tablespoons of sugar. Consuming too much sugar is linked to a wide range of health conditions like heart disease and diabetes, so these are best enjoyed in moderation. 

Can you make pumpkin spice latte at home?

Yes, you can absolutely make one at home. Starbucks lists all the ingredients on the website, but it isn't hard to figure out the basic structure. A pumpkin spice latte is just an everyday latte – a shot of espresso, steamed milk, milk foam – and a mix of  nutmeg, ginger, cloves and cinnamon. 'Pumpkin' is a bit of a misnomer, as there's no pumpkin or pumpkin flavoring in there. The drink is  named for the spices that go into any good pumpkin pie, not for the squash. 

I have my own recipe, but I think I'll leave it to the expert. Laura makes her own mix of pumpkin spice. She mixes 'three tablespoons of cinnamon, two teaspoons of ginger, two teaspoons of nutmeg, and a pinch of ground cardamom'. This mix is enough to last you right up to Thanksgiving, and it won't go off. 

When it comes to brewing the drink itself, the first step is to prepare your mug. Before you add any coffee, Laura says to 'mix two teaspoons of your spice mix into a paste using a splash of milk. I normally add vanilla paste and some milk here, but you could add sugar'. Once you've done this, she says, 'brew an espresso shot into a small glass'. 

Here's where that expertise really comes in. I'd never think to do this, but it's genius. Laura says to 'scoop the crema off your shot', because though it's a mark of a good shot, it will lend too much bitterness to the coffee, which will undermine the sweetness of the spice. 

When your shot is ready, add the espresso to the spice mix and make latte milk - Laura told me 'it should be about ⅓ foam and ⅔ warm milk'. For the finish, she suggests to 'spray some whipped cream on top and sprinkle over some cinnamon. It makes everything feel more festive'.

Final thoughts

Another option for a good pumpkin spice latte is an single serve coffee maker. For example, I'm a big fan of the ease of the Nespresso Vertuo, and though the coffee is sometimes a little too bitter, I thought last year's limited edition gingerbread coffee, still available at Amazon, is about as close as you can get to pumpkin spice at home at the touch of a button.

What makes a pink and green color combination perfect for the kitchen?

Brynn Valentine, a trends researcher at Stylus, reports that the interest in green kitchens has to do with the positive psychological effects of these colors. 'Kitchens are a hub in the home dedicated to food and family – such colors reconnect homeowners with a sense of nature, wellness and replenishment' she states. Brynn continues 'the uptick in soothing pinks and striking French greens in kitchen design portray the romantic allure of gardens. This unanticipated, yet charming combo has the power to bring a dreamlike botanical feeling into the home that especially suits the kitchen.'

How do I pick out the perfect pink and green pairing?

Though pink and green are complementary, choosing the correct shades for a visually appealing kitchen can be more difficult than it appears. Charlotte Cosby states 'using these two shades for a kitchen scheme is all about finding balance. Look for shades that feel a similar weight or a few shades lighter, or darker, than one another, such as Setting Plaster on kitchen cabinets and Calke Green for a pop of color on a kitchen island. Given the beautiful, naturally inspired, and calming properties of pink and green kitchens, it is no wonder that this style has become one of the biggest kitchen trends of 2023. We can't wait to see the fashionable look in even more spaces as the year goes on.

Following lab testing, plaintiffs Akeem Pina and Richard Roberts filed a class action lawsuit, claiming that Avocado mattresses contained synthetic, toxic chemicals at 'virtually every stage of the latex manufacturing process'. If true, this would make Avocado Mattress guilty of 'knowingly misrepresenting their products' in violation of the California Consumers Legal Remedies Act.

On August 11, 2023, the case was dismissed – much to the delight of Avocado co-founder Mark Abrials, who maintains that the allegations were 'baseless' and 'unproven'. Another representative of the Avocado Mattress company says that they are 'glad to put this issue behind us'.

Avocado Mattress lawsuit dismissed

Still, if you own anything from Avocado, you might be keen to learn more about the lawsuit and what it means for you, the consumer. This article should tell you everything you need to know about the Avocado Mattress lawsuit, from what was alleged to why it was dismissed and whether it's safe to buy from Avocado today.

What was the lawsuit?

Avocado claims that their latex products are organic, non-toxic, and biodegradable, made with entirely organic latex, wool, and cotton. Plaintiffs Akeem Pina and Richard Roberts commissioned lab testing to assess the veracity of these claims. Their 57-page complaint, which you can read in full at ClassAction.org, alleges that 'virtually every stage of [Avocado's] manufacturing process', from 'harvesting and stabilization to vulcanization and drying', involves the use of 'a litany of synthetic chemicals'.

Listed chemicals include Wingstay-L, pentyl furan, and naphthenic hydrocarbon oils, some of which must be labeled as potentially harmful under California's Prop 65. For this reason, the plaintiffs contest Avocado's MADE SAFE certification, as they allege that Avocado products are not made with '100 percent healthy ingredients'.

The plaintiffs refer to Avocado's ad content, which makes repeated reference to terms such as 'natural', 'eco', and 'organic'. 'At no time does Avocado disclose to consumers that it uses chemicals − let alone toxic chemicals – during the manufacturing process, and that those chemicals end up in the final products that consumers purchase and use,' the suit claims.

Now, I've spent hours reading the case notes. For me, the case falls apart on the question of 'chemicals', because there is no such thing as chemical-free latex foam. To make latex into foam, you have to vulcanize it, which means you introduce sulfur, zinc oxide, and antioxidants to the latex. Still more chemicals are used in the processing and preservation of the latex foam. 'It's an open secret in the natural mattress industry that some synthetic materials are always necessary to turn rubber tree sap into usable latex,' writes Leigh Matthews for LeafScore.

As of August 11, 2023, the case has been dismissed, so there is no publicly available information concerning what happened during the trial.

How did Avocado respond?

Right around the time that the case was dismissed, Avocado co-founder Mark Abrials published an article restating the company's natural credentials. According to their website, Avocado foam 'meets stringent organic criteria', a claim which is supported by an eco-INSTITUT label, as well as FSC and OEKO-TEX certification.

Mark maintains that Avocado relies on rigorous testing standards to make latex products that minimize environmental pollution and follow government guidelines. Mark also claims that Avocado messaging adheres to the marketing guidelines set by the Federal Trade Commission for clarity and accuracy.

Is it safe to buy from Avocado?

When you pay a premium for organic produce, you want to know that you're spending your money wisely. Now that the suit has been dismissed, there's no legal reason not to buy Avocado products.

On the first floor, an impressive glass wine cellar showcases the influencer’s formidable collection of fine wines. Aside from these touches, the space is relatively neutral with an organic-looking brown rug, a long wooden table covered in books, a retro lamp, and a thin willow tree.

What’s the key to why the ‘lip kit’ mogul’s simple space looks so elevated? It all comes down to the white paint color. Bynn Esmond, principal designer at Bynn Esmond Designs says that she ‘especially likes using white for its high LRV (Light Reflective Value) as it helps make the space lighter and brighter.’ This brightening property is certainly clear in Kylie Jenner’s LA entryway, where we can see light from the lamp and wine cabinet reflected throughout the room.

Furthermore, Bynn emphasizes the ability of white to make other elements in the room stand out even more. She writes ‘a neutral white acts as a blank slate to allow for layering of color, depth, warmth. It becomes the backdrop that allows its louder counterparts to shine through.’ 

In Kylie’s space, the simple color allows even more understated elements of her room like the black and white portraits and the willowy tree to speak loudly. 

Even better, interior designers say this neutral shade will never go out of style. Design expert Aleksandra Nova states that white is her favorite color to use in a project. She says ‘white is absolutely a timeless color.’ She goes on to elaborate that white is forever cool because it will always ‘keep the space fresh and it will serve the owners in the future should they choose to change decor details within the space.’

Kansas-based company 'Kingdom Tiny Homes' has revolutionized the concept of compact living with a combination of two tiny homes (optionally combined by a deck) named the 'L combo.'

To conclude the latest Home Town series, the designer left us with one of her most controversial color choices yet: a red kitchen. 'We ended this season of HGTV's Home Town on a joyful note in an Americana color palette celebrating Jack’s new US citizenship and Iris’s love for patterns,' she says. 

The kitchen colors pay homage to the homeowner's decision to relocate to Laurel, Mississippi – meaning the red cabinets have underlining sentiments for those who will use them every day. It is, however, no secret that decorating with red is a controversial choice – not least because of its bold (and often stress-inducing) nature. But can Erin's red, white, and blue kitchen change our minds? We spoke to some designers, and honestly, they're convinced. 

'While red may have a controversial reputation, it can be a bold and dynamic choice that adds a unique touch to kitchen design,' says designer Nicholas Kaiko of Kaiko Design Interiors.

'Energetic and stimulating, red is a vibrant and attention-grabbing color that can stimulate appetite and create a lively atmosphere in the kitchen,' Nicholas comments. And while some may associate it with stress and anger, he says it is the hue of 'energy, passion, and excitement.'

As the designer explains, red has a bold reputation – but, instead of looking at it as a color of anger – we should associate it with a warmth and inviting aura. 

'In the kitchen, where gatherings and family activities frequently take place, using red can create a welcoming and inviting ambiance,' he says. 'It can make the space feel more intimate and comfortable, encouraging social interaction.'

Red is a color that demands attention and makes a bold statement. And while this can feel daring, Nicholas says this bold tone can leave a memorable impression – that is especially powerful when used on cabinets like Erin's above.

'Incorporating red cabinets can be an excellent choice. The color adds a strong focal point and can serve as a striking visual element within the overall design scheme,' he says. And, in case we needed more convincing, the designer reminds us that, despite its reputation, red is both versatile and complementary when paired with metallic finishings. 

'While red can be an intense color on its own, red can complement metallic finishes, such as stainless steel appliances and brass accents,' he says. 'Your home should reflect your personality and style, so if you love it, go for it.'

Even prior to its release, Greta Gerwig's Barbie made waves in the fashion and interiors world – most significantly in the shape of Barbiecore – the unapologetically vibrant design trend that, in all its fun and flirtatiousness, is a minimalist's nightmare. There are, however, some ways to embrace the Barbiecore movement without gambling with your overall room color scheme – and that involves looking to pastels.

In her living room (below), Elisabeth is pictured on an understated pastel pink sofa in her otherwise neutral space. With its soft blushing hues, the piece is not audacious enough to identify as totally Barbiecore inspired – but it does allow us to have just the right amount of fun with the hue of the moment. 

Alongside the staple sofa, Elisabeth has discreetly dressed the room with pink furnishings, including a light pink fruit bowl filled with her accessories and (what appears to be) a circular glass pink candle. 

The space has fun with pink without dedicating the entire scheme to the cause – something to note as the trend shows no signs of wavering this season. And Karen Rohr, a designer from Mackenzie Collier Interiors, agrees. 

'Despite its playful nature, Barbiecore can actually be quite versatile,' she says. 'First, opt for light and airy colors like pale pink... feel free to use any shade of pink to work around your existing color palette, if any.'

Alongside decorating with pink, Karen adds that we can elegantly experiment with Barbiecore further by adding details like ruffles, lace, or even quietly luxurious finishes, such as gold. 

'Keep in mind this is an excellent opportunity to have fun with your accessories. Get creative with your picture frames, lampshades, and throw pillows. The goal is to create a space that feels fun and inviting.'

'This is a trend that celebrates feminine beauty, and incorporating this in interior design can go a few different ways, and as with any trend, I'll never recommend going way too literal, but we can have fun with small details,' the designer adds. 

We're starting with these Elisabeth-inspired buys (including the all-important) sofa below. 

While shades of pink are extremely versatile and have been a popular choice in interiors for centuries. However, if pink is just a little too feminine for you, try peach instead. 

‘Peach also has a clear connection with nature and represents a set of shades ranging from a light orange pink to a yellow-hued orange,’ says Sarah Lloyd, senior brand manager at Valspar. ‘It is often used as a neutral shade instead of beige and warm whites. Encouraging light into a space, enriching it with calming yet refreshing energy, peach pink is great for a snug, bedroom or study.’

The recently Emmy-nominated actress, known for Bad Sisters, shared a glimpse inside her charcoal-painted living space – and while the color scheme is something to note – we're more taken by her 'invisible' shelves brimming with personal accessories. 

Comprising an abundance of records, books, photo frames, and painted crockery – Sharon's living room storage is nothing if not eclectic. However, despite the varying styles, the space, as a whole, appears indisputably curated – and consequently exemplifies the 'cluttercore' design trend.

Cluttercore is no new phenomenon. The social-media-born aesthetic has divided designers' opinions since it rose to prominence in 2021, and it's easy to understand why it remains so controversial. The trend celebrates a homeowner's quirkiness and personality by offering permission to fill their space with assorted accessories of varying styles.

In Sharon's case, her living room reflects her memories, music taste, and travels – combining vintage vases and espresso cups with contemporary artworks. And, despite the contrasts, it works. And, as Bo Hellberg, the CMO at String Furniture, suggests, the actresses' storage taps into yet another trend: statement feature walls.

'At the moment, we are noticing a trend for large-scale statement feature walls,' he says. The Guardian reports that actress turned to String to kit out her space – choosing a solution that seamlessly blends into the wall and allows her possessions to do all the talking. 

As Bo explains, using open storage like these from String 'opens up a whole range of possibilities for our design scheme' – so we can make any statement with our most personal belongings. It's a maximalist twist on the traditional accent wall that, we expect, will continue to take social media by storm.

'When designing our homes, we often forget the effectiveness of simply merging storage with the interior design scheme,' Bo comments. However, with the right shelving, we can 'merge function with decoration' while paying homage to two enduring design trends in the process. 

'The look and feel that you create within your home is utterly individual, and what is so unique about this storage system is its flexibility and ability to fit into any style of home,' adds String's co-owner, Peter Erlandsson. 'You have endless possibilities so that you can curate your own style wherever you are.'

The actress shared a look inside her beautiful marble kitchen (to which we've already penned a love letter) – but this time, we were just as distracted by her Our Place Always Pan (one of the best non-stick pans on the market) as we were by her timeless design choices.

'I use this in the cabinet in our laundry room because it drives me crazy... I can’t stand moving things around and looking for them. So, it’s detergent, bleach, and then all the sprays you need when you have filthy children.'

This rotating organizer is just one of many pieces designed by Nate to make organization easier. After announcing his partnership with mDesign, he sat down exclusively with H&G to share exactly how he keeps his home tidy, and, unsurprisingly, it comes down to products from the collection. 

'For me, the organization is the foundation of a life well lived,' he says. 'That layer of organization, that feeling of accomplishment when you look through your things... and then when you have the product to house all of those things, it shifts the way we move through our homes.'

The Fixer To Fabulous star recently faced the eternal predicament in an episode titled 'An Old Rancher Gets a Chef-Inspired Face-Lift.' In the footage, Jenny and her husband Dave were tasked with making a front porch more private – creating a space where the homeowners could lounge and host without any overlookers. The solution? A choice that is so obvious – we would never actually consider it. 

Jenny and Dave created a compact seating area behind a slatted wooden fence – complete with cushioned chairs, a coffee table, and potted plants.

In the show, Jenny explains she was drawn to the fence for its mid-century style, but aesthetics aside, it was primarily a practical purchase. 'It also provides privacy,' she says. 'They can enjoy this space, and it could feel like a little enclosed courtyard.'

The home's white exterior is strikingly monochromatic; however, along with the stylish mid-century benefits, the wooden fence adds welcome warmth to the space. The designer also added leafy plants for privacy – ensuring the space is as functional as it is beautiful. You can see photos of the final result here. 

As mentioned, adding a fence for porch privacy is such an obvious solution – it can be easily overlooked. However, Andrzej Lipski, a real estate investor from Next Door Properties, LLC in North Carolina, suggests that this solution is becoming increasingly popular – and considering its benefits, it's easy to see why. 

'Privacy fences have started to get popular in some markets over the last few years,' he says. 'With many homes built in developments, it can feel like your neighbors are right on top of you. A porch provides an aesthetic to the home and shade when one wants to be outdoors. Adding privacy fencing can bring a little extra indoor comfort while still being outside.'

Plus, while privacy is the priority, Andrzej says that porch fencing is equally impactful in reducing noise in the area –  whether dealing with neighbors or traffic. 

'This allows you to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and better connect with nature or engage in conversations without disturbance,' he says. 

'With a privacy fence, you can create an inviting and cozy outdoor living space on your front porch. It provides a sense of seclusion, enabling you to relax, entertain guests, or engage in activities without feeling exposed to passersby.'

Other intentional pioneers include the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow  (whose iconic white kitchen is another example of this aesthetic) and her Hollywood counterpart Cameron Diaz who follows suit in her SoCal home.

Joanna famously lives in Waco, but her living room pays homage to the best of the Golden State – starting with the all-important white color scheme, textured wooden elements, and inviting lounge furniture. 

To further accentuate the Californian Casual look, the designer has decorated and accessorized with an industrial style light, a patterned rug, and an abundance of house plants for good measure. All of which have approval from Gina Caulkins, the founder of California Daydreams in San Francisco.

If anybody knows about Californian style, it is Gina Caulkins – the Bay Area native who uses the state as her muse. So, what does Joanna get so right? And how can we replicate this aesthetic in our own homes? Firstly, begin by curating your light sources (including a statement piece like Jo's) rather than opting for too many overhead options.

'Aim to have two to three light sources in your living room. Lighting is the jewelry of the home, and layered lighting adds a more luxe feel,' she says. 'If you only have can lighting, try adding a floor lamp and table lamps or scones.'

We've seen how Joanna has styled her space with indoor plants and a large rug (that anchors the seating area), but, when it comes to styling the California Casual trend, it's hard to go wrong. 

'Styling is the final layer that really brings your living room together and adds the personal touch,' Gina comments. 

'Think pillows, throws, accessories, and drapery. Your space won't feel complete without it. The individual pieces can be inexpensive, but the goal is to layer textiles and objects to make a living room feel homey and complete. We love to mix in vintage pieces, found items from our clients' travels, and inexpensive decor, sometimes from places like Target.'

However, in all its beauty, designers love its all-white color scheme the most. But what makes them so eternally admired? 

'All-white living rooms is a classic that will never go out of style. There are so many shades of white that you can evoke just about any feeling as a foundation for the space,' says  Tama Bell, the founder and interior designer at Tama Bell Design.

The hue is crisp and clean – creating a blank canvas that allows other shades to stand out. And, in Brie's case, it is the perfect base for a neutral space that is as therapeutic as it is good-looking.

This tone transcends color trends – continually impressing designers and Hollywood's elite, Captain Marvel included.  

'It's bright and a classic. It allows you room to direct the aesthetic through the furnishings and accessories,' Tama says. While the designer says that it can be used to allow more monochromatic pieces to pop – it is just as powerful to color drench with white (and off-white) pieces as Brie has done.

Despite exhibiting exclusively similar tones, the actress's space is far from vanilla. She had added interest through trending textiles (including celebrated bouclé) and a large neutral rug. This undemanding color also allows the home's architectural assets to shine through – most strikingly, in the case of her stone fireplace, which is a nod to its history. 

When the actress purchased her home, we reported that the $7 million property has origins dating back to 1948 – and, alongside the fireplace, comes with a vintage yellow kitchen and views of Los Angeles' skyline. 

When decorating with white, however, Tama reminds us that every home is different. So, just as Brie has chosen tones that accentuate her home's natural beauty – we should do the same. 

'For the right tone of white, pay attention to the undertones when selecting and what feeling you are trying to create in the space,' she says. 'We love warm, off-whites used en-masse on walls, ceilings, and trim to encapsulate and create a cozy, modern feeling.'

And, for another Brie-inspired decor decision, we're looking to this equally timeless bouclé sofa below. 

In case we've lost you, a flooring transition is when you have a room with more than one flooring type: perhaps tile under your bath and wooden boards across the rest of the bathroom, as in the room above, right.

It's a practical technique that can look fabulous, but which is also so easy to get wrong. Here, we take you through Shea's invaluable flooring ideas for transitional spaces, and add in a few of our own. 

Shea's rule #1: Consider the transition

Shea shows off an entryway into living space; in entryway, there is tile floor; in the living space, wood flooring.

'When you're selecting mixed flooring in an open concept space one of the most important things to consider is the transition,' says Shea.

'You can see that we did this wide stained board piece in the transition between this open space and the entryway. If we has just butted them up next to each other it would have felt a little cheap. We do these flooring transitions in every flooring change that we design.'

Shea uses a wooden board that is the same texture and shade as the rest of the floor, but is larger and echoes the wooden arch that separates the entryway from the open space.

'Finding flooring that breaks the divide between two flooring choices yet is consistent with the tone and materiality of the two can be a great way to elevate your flooring transition,' says Jo Bailey, Homes & Gardens' Deputy Editor and style guru. 'It can be as subtle has having a slightly wider, darker board, as Shea has picked here; it's all about creating a pause.'

Shea's rule #2: Choose toning flooring that's appropriate to the zones

'The other thing to consider is how the tones work together,' continues Shea. 'It would not have looked good to do a white flooring in this entryway. It probably would have looked good for, like, two seconds, but you're going to get a lot of mud and snowy boots into this home, and so going with a darker floor you've got an easier transition of the eye between the wood tone and the stone,'

Shea repeats her matching tones rule in an entryway in her house (below), where she picks a lighter shade of grey tile which seamlessly transitions to a lighter wood floor.

'This can work for any flooring type, whether carpet and tile, or tile and hardwood,' says Jennifer Ebert, Homes & Gardens' Digital Editor and design expert. 'The important step in the process is to bring large samples into the room and to lay them next to each other, with a strip of dividing material between them for the transition.'

Our rule #3: Use flooring transitions to zone a space

Lucy Searle, editor in Chief at Homes & Gardens says, 'Using transitional flooring within an open plan space is a great way to create subtle zones: perhaps you might have a tile floor in a kitchen, transitioning to wood flooring in the adjoining dining or living area. 

'This can be a particularly useful trick in a smaller home, where you might not want to, or have room to, use large pieces of furniture to create that visual divide.'

It works, too, in a single room, such as a bathroom or kitchen where a hardwearing floor is a must-have beneath the wet areas, but a plusher flooring will work in a dry area.

There's no limit to the transitional flooring designs you can use: 100 years ago, it was often a simple strip of wood or tile; today, those classic designs are just as favored. The key is to consider whether you want the three flooring types to tone, as Shea does, though you could consider contrast to shake things up a little.

Following the launch of this collection, Nate sat down with H&G to discuss the importance of knowing exactly what is in each drawer – and that includes drawers inside the refrigerator. 

'I have known – not thought but known – for a really long time the importance of knowing what is in each drawer,' Nate shared. 'Being able to reach for something, whether it's wrapping paper or ribbon or a pot or pan – knowing where to find that is an aspect of housekeeping that allows me to fill the space in a way that is meaningful to me.'

And, alongside its evident uses in our refrigerator, manufacturers mDesign add that this drawer is perfect for organizing a pantry. The actress recently shared a look inside her power gray-green-hued kitchen – showcasing cabinets drenched in this trending tone. Reese's cupboards and cabinetry still boast the moody yet sophisticated feel we all grew to love about gray, but it's a slightly bolder twist on the cool neutral – and designers are quick to share their love for this emerging hue. But what makes it so sought after?

'Gray-green exudes a soothing aura. The color contributes to establishing a tranquil and serene environment in your dwelling,' says New York-based designer Artem Kropovinsky.

As with all 'color trends,' you'd be forgiven for approaching gray-green with caution –but as the designer explains – this hue is more than a fleeting fad. Firstly, because its therapeutic aura is unlikely to fall out of vogue – and secondly, because it's so easy to get right. And he's not alone in his observations. 

'Gray-green works beautifully in the home because they combine neutral, soothing earthy tones,' adds kitchen expert and Nieu Cabinet's head of design, Teri Simone.

'Greens with a hint of a gray undertone make for a balanced color palette, and both provide grounding elements that can be emphasized with pops of other bright tones to warm up the space,' he adds. In the case of a kitchen, we'd recommend looking for a vibrantly-hued appliance or collection of bright-colored cookbooks that will bring more color to the space. 'Alternatively, soft linen curtains will create a subtle contrast.'

How to style gray-green kitchen cabinets

As Teri explains, choosing bold-colored appliances is one way to highlight this hue in your kitchen. However, are even more ways to make this color work for you. 

Artem recommends introducing nature-inspired elements that work well against the grounding hue. 'This could encompass items such as floral, botanical arrangements, or a textile with a pattern that derives from nature,' he says. 

'Also, remember to focus on your kitchen lighting. Appropriate illumination is crucial for any space, but it is particularly significant in a gray-green setting where you can accentuate its welcoming and warm tones' – to create a sociable space that is as beautiful as it is functional.

We're starting with this color match to Reese's paint via Backdrop below.

In her yard, Cameron has planted a collection of tall olive trees, all of which climb up her otherwise conventional gray-painted exterior wall. While we admit that the wall does not deserve to be labeled as 'unsightly,' it would be significantly less interesting without the vertical planting that adds lush interest against the blank backdrop. 

In strategically planting trees in front of the wall, Cameron has discreetly turned a conventional space into something of a talking point – and landscape experts say we can easily do the same. 

'When it comes to hiding an unsightly wall, using a vertical plant is a fantastic way that can greatly enhance the appearance of your outdoor space,' says Nashville-based landscape expert Gene Caballero.

How to recreate Cameron Diaz's vertical planting trick 

Cameron has opted for olive trees in her Californian backyard, but Gene says there are many other options that will thrive in all climates. The plant that comes out on top? The climbing hydrangea.

'One of the best plants to consider for hiding an ugly wall is the climbing hydrangea. This plant features beautiful foliage and clusters of white flowers, creating a stunning visual display,' he says.

'The climbing hydrangea has a vine-like growth habit and can be trained to climb and cover the wall effectively. It adheres to surfaces using aerial rootlets, ensuring secure attachment. This plant is particularly suitable for partial shade to full shade conditions and thrives in well-draining soil.' Our favorite climbing hydrangeas are in stock at Garden Goods Direct below. 

Alternatively, if we're looking for a plant with a more fiery color scheme, Gene recommends the Virginia Creeper, available here on Nature Hills.

'This vine has lush green leaves that transform into shades of red, orange, and purple in fall, creating a visually stunning backdrop,' he comments. 'The Virginia Creeper is a fast-growing plant that can cover a wall with its dense foliage.' The plant also adapts well to different light conditions, meaning it can thrive in various soil types nationwide. 

'In my experience, these plants have proven to be successful choices for hiding unsightly walls. Their ability to climb and cover vertical surfaces, coupled with their attractive foliage and adaptability, make them ideal for transforming an eyesore into a beautiful feature in your outdoor space.'

Most recently, the HGTV designer showed us what's possible when you experiment with wallpaper – specifically a century-old decorating technique with transformative powers that often goes overlooked: namely, pairing a bold wallpaper with a punchy paint color for trim.

'From an outdated dining room to a lively gathering space with plenty of whimsy,' Joanna shared alongside before and after footage on Instagram. 'With the original built-in as our inspiration, we played up the charm and whimsy in this dining room with floor-to-ceiling wallpaper, fresh paint, and detailed trim.'  

The Magnolia blog explains that the dining room sits right between the living room and breakfast nook, which we featured recently, meaning it was the center of the entire renovation. Joanna and her team wanted the space to reflect the home's 'original charm' – drawing inspiration from the built-in cabinet in the top corner. 'This 1930s cabinet served as a point of reference for design decisions made throughout the entire project,' the team share on Magnolia.

As with all renovations, there were many decisions to consider – from paint to furnishings and accessories. However, we would say that the transition from the glossy blue paint to the whimsical green wallpaper is the most impactful change of all.

Joanna chose Red Barrel Studio's Evergreen Peel & Stick Floral Wallpaper (available via Wayfair below) to serve as the perfect 'garden-esque feel' base. She then painted the trim, baseboards, built-in, and ceiling in Weathered Windmill – a subtle blue paint from Magnolia Home, naturally. This hue is said to pair well with the color story in the statement wallpaper. 

While the wallpaper does much of the talking, Joanna's choice of furniture (and accessories) is worth an honorable mention. The rounded table and classic spindle-back chairs are contemporary with a traditional French twist, complementing the antique-inspired aesthetic set by the Art Nouveau, William Morris-inspired wallpaper. 

In terms of the tablescape, Joanna arranged scalloped plates and placemats before adding an oversized vessel and white faux floral arrangement that matches the wallpaper, naturally. 

We've found the same table mats and candle sticks (and similar sculpted plates) on Magnolia – so we can all recreate this Jo-approved tablescape in our own dining rooms.  

The actress-turned-businesswoman shared a look inside her famously chic Montecito residence, created by celebrated designer Brigette Romanek. Her 'forever home' is stylish but holistic – comprising a white marble kitchen, a neutral living room, and a zen backyard – so, of course, something as mundane as her storage was going to be just as effortlessly good-looking. 

'Earlier today, I talked with my dear friend Brigette Romanek and [designer] Richard T. Anuszkiewicz about how we incorporate wellness into design and the inspiration for my new home,' Gwyneth says while sitting in a book-filled corner. 'We touched on my design journey – all the way down to the Monogram Appliances [Gwyneth's favorite kitchen range] I chose for my kitchen. Where do you all find inspiration when starting a new home project?'

When it comes to living room book shelf ideas, Gwyneth's solution is simple but effective. She has opted for white floor-to-ceiling shelves that allow the book jackets to bring just the right amount of color to the space. The shelves strike a balance between a relaxed yet organized aesthetic  – something that hasn't gone unnoticed by H&G's Interiors Therapist Suzanne Roynon.

'I admire the curated organization of Gwyneth’s shelving,' she comments. 'The actress has an eclectic range of interests which are reflected in her reading choices, and she has created a space that is beautiful, relaxing, and composed.'

So, how can we recreate this look in our own homes? Even when working with small space storage, Suzanne says this look is 'eminently straightforward' to replicate. 

'The secret is to treat the shelving as a display space for items you love, rather than viewing storage as something you should cram everything into,' she explains. 'It’s a change of perspective which comes with interiors therapy, and it elevates the energy within a home to support and uplift the occupants.'

And one other key thing to remember? Think about the placement of the lower shelf. 'My one suggestion, offered from painful personal experience, is to be sure the lower shelf will not collide with the back of your head when you flop into your chair or sofa.'

The castle (shown, above, before the renovation) was built in 1890, and has been extensively restored by the couple, who documented progress on their show Fixer Upper: Welcome Home - The Castle in 2022, which featured on Discovery+, HBO Max and the couple's Magnolia Network. 

As avid viewers of the show, we're sure the property will gain a large amount of attention, which might make the auction a frenzied affair.

The couple purchased the property in 2019, and despite the Cottonland Castle's historic value, it's safe to say this stunning makeover has drastically increased the property's desirability and value.

Joanna and Chip commented that they hope their renovation on the castle will make it 'a well-loved home once again'.

Joanna and Chip Gaines have their own Magnolia Realty company where the property is listed for $2.9m, and where you can book a tour of the property – but be sure to be quick!

The castle's grounds are almost 16. acres, while the castle itself is 6,000 square feet. The castle has four bedrooms, a conservatory (above), a library and a tower.

In an interview with Joanna and Chip on the Magnolia network in September 2022, prior to the show's debut, Chip commented, 'This castle is one of the most impressive properties in the entire Waco, Central Texas area and I've wanted it for two decades now. The plan for the castle is to bring this beautiful property back to its original state.' 

The couple's love and admiration for the castle is evident from their restoration of the building's original features, such as the diamond shaped window-panes, paneling and millwork. However, the property has been modernized in a way that finds a harmonic balance with its historic features, a perfect blend of old and new.

'After such a long journey with the castle, it was fun to dress up and shoot the cover of #MagnoliaJournal in the completed Conservatory – one of my favorite spots in the house', says Joanna via her Instagram (above). 

The conservatory features a classic black and white tiled floor, which is stylishly coordinated with the black painted door and window frames that feature on the exterior of the property. This clever use of color brings a modern twist to the property, while bringing out the light brick color, to make the property seem more homey, while still maintaining its grandeur.

'Castle Drawing Room Part 1: I love this room because of the natural light that floods into all the amazing wood windows,' says Joanna of the castle's drawing room, above.

'We lightened this room up and painted the original dark paneling and trim with Magnolia Home's Drawing Room gray and the walls, moulding and ceiling were painted Castle Cream.' 

Joanna also tagged where she sourced her furniture in the room: Pottery Barn, Etsy, KILZ, Ace Hardware, Chairish, Akdo USA, Serena and Lily, Lulu and Georgia, 1st Dibs.

Joanna and Chip have used a range of natural colors, wallpapers, tiles, textures and design features throughout the property to ensure the home feels cohesive but not repetitive. Indeed, every room has something very different to offer.

Following the end of this project, Joanna and Chip have announced that they will be working on a 50,000 square-foot hotel in Waco, Texas, which will be a stone's throw from the Magnolia Market at the Silos, which is Joanna and Chip's shopping and dining destination. This hotel will have 33 bedrooms across its four floors. It will also feature a roof terrace, events hall, ballroom, and restaurant.

The auction is an exciting opportunity for not only perspective buyers, but also fans of Joanna's interior taste to see what she and husband Chip have done with this three story castle. 

'I've teamed up with Pottery Barn to reimagine our San Francisco home and transform it into an absolute sanctuary that truly reflects who we are as a family,' Ayesha says. The restaurateur shares the home with Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and their three children. 

'If you know me, you know how much I cherish my family time, and having a space where we can unwind and recharge is everything,' she comments. 'You'll see how we've seamlessly blended comfort and elegance, creating rooms that are not only beautiful but also functional.'

The neutral living room, seen below, exemplifies how we can create a space that caters to our practical needs – without sacrificing style. Here's what their decorating decisions involved. 

'I'm obsessed with the living room – it's cozy with a luxe vibe, and the color palette feels really zen,' Ayesha shared with Pottery Barn. 

This partnership is a continuation of her already rich history with the decor company. She recently launched her Sweet July by Ayesha Curry x Pottery Barn collection that similarly comprises natural textures and earthy hues – similar to those seen in this living room.

It's hard to choose a stand-out piece in this room, but if we were pressured, we'd have to say the Dream Square Sectional sofa comes out on top. We love the rust colorway that oozes warm minimalism and creates a statement against the room's lighter hues – from the boucle round armchairs to the white paint that serves as a beautiful blank canvas.

'This location is really prime for us,' Ayesha adds in the footage below. 

'It's right in between where Stephen goes to work and my restaurant International Smoke. We do everything out of this space...so we wanted something a little bit elevated that's still livable – and also a place [where] we could feel proud of and confident in if we were entertaining.' We would say her mission is well and truly accomplished. 

The singer, who resides in Encino, Los Angeles, shared a video from her all-white kitchen – complete with painted cabinets, countertops, and an island in the same hue. 

The almost color-drenched space (bar the black oven hood) epitomizes what it means to have an all-white kitchen: exhibiting a light, bright, and easily maintainable clean aesthetic that, designers say, will never fall out of vogue. But what makes it so eternal? 

'White kitchens act as a palette cleanser. It allows light and bright space to shine in a high-traffic area, extending design freedom to adjacent living spaces,' comments designer Eilla Pradier.

San Diego-based designer, Kristyn Harvey, agrees. 'White goes with everything,' she says. 'It has been used as a neutral backdrop for centuries because it allows other colors and textures to shine. That way, you can use your decor to keep up with the trends, which is way more affordable than changing up your kitchen cabinets.'

As mentioned, white kitchens are admired for their light, bright and calming effects, but – good looks aside – they're also seamlessly easy to maintain. 'The color is easy to clean because you can see the debris and splatter, which prompts you to clean them more frequently than if they were darker,' she adds.

Lastly, aesthetics and maintenance aside, Eilla explains that a white kitchen, just like Meghan's, can help when selling our house, too. 

'When building a custom modern home, many clients want to ensure it will have resale value down the line. Having a white kitchen scheme is a great way to ensure you create a timeless space that will stand the test of time against current design trends that are constantly changing.'

So, a white kitchen is among the features that house buyers want, but we must say, it would be hard to leave a kitchen as striking as Meghan Trainor's. It's a stark reminder that this color will always impress – as it has already done for decades before. And the best starting point? Our go-to pure white is available via Backdrop below.

If anybody were to introduce us to Vice President's design decisions, it would have to be Bobby Berk, Netflix's Queer Eye star, who visited Kamala Harris this week. 'Went to DC and got a private tour of the VP's house from the VP,' the designer shared via Instagram. 'Such an honor to meet you, Madam Vice President. Thank you for being such an amazing champion for equality.'

Bobby shared a rare glimpse inside Kamala's living space – where stand-out features include the built-in bookshelves and artwork above the fireplace. However, while its architectural assets and storage solutions are something to note, we can't help but feel more distracted by its strikingly patriotic living room color scheme. 

How can you strike a balance between red, white, and blue without overly saturating your space? While these colors (particularly red) can be hard to get right, the Vice President's living room offers an inspiring starting point that is subtly patriotic. 

As mentioned, decorating with red can be tricky, but the Vice President has balanced her red wallpaper and rug with white-painted shelving (and the white fireplace), bringing a sense of calmness to the otherwise vibrant space. And, while the white paint has its design benefits, we'd say it's also a nod to the flag – with two of the three colors working harmoniously together in the space. 

While we admit there is no significant amount of blue in the room, there are some varying hints of the shade on the bookshelves – most notably on the top left side alongside her gray vase. As we suggested, though, the space is subtly patriotic  – and we think she's got the balance just right. 

What else do we know about Number One Observatory Circle?

Number One Observatory Circle (also often referred to as the Naval Observatory) is the Vice President's official residence, meaning it is currently home to Kamala Harris and Douglas Emhoff, the Second Gentleman of the United States. 

The house, located on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C, was designed by architect Leon E. Dessez and built in 1893 for $20,000 (today, equivalent to around $651,407). It was initially constructed for the observatory superintendent; however, the chief of naval operations reportedly liked the house so much that in 1923 he took it over for himself.

Over the years, the Vice President has welcomed countless foreign leaders, dignitaries, and celebrities to their homes, and the Naval Observatory has continued to operate. According to the government website, the site is used by scientists who observe the sun, moon, and planets to publish astronomical data needed for accurate navigation.

The actress, who lives in her childhood Pacific Palisades home, is not shy of showcasing her culinary talents – most famously in the shape of her personally developed smoothie supplements that are a staple of her kitchen. Sometimes, however, Kate also treats her followers to some baked goods, including mini peach pies (as seen below). And, while we're inevitably experiencing a craving for these sweet treats, we're even more hungry for the mini cocottes (small, ceramic or cast iron cooking pots) that, we confess, have stolen the show. 

The cocottes in question come from Staub, the premium French cookware brand known for some of the best Dutch Ovens and baking dishes on the market. They're perfect for small-serving desserts, such as Kate's peach pies, but they're just as handy in the savory department, too.

As mentioned, Kate uses her Staub cocottes to cook up peach delights, but we'd say they're equally perfect for storing salt and pepper atop a rustic dining table or even preserving candy if living with kids. 

Their small 5in diameter also means they're perfect for preparing and serving smaller portions when cooking for one person – ideal for cherry tomato and cheese clafoutis and truffled eggs with mushrooms, a personal favorite of ours. 

It's no secret that we're already fans of pretty much everything in Kate Hudson's kitchen – from her emerging cabinet color trend to her patterned tiles – both of which make the space her 'favorite room' in her house. Ceramics, colors, and tiles aside, however, we also think her window treatment (as seen above) is worth an honorable mention.

1. Fit horizontal, pale exterior paneling to exaggerate width

The house is as eye-catching from the outside as it is inside, with elegant light gray wood paneling and white-framed windows and porch to create a classic country aesthetic with a contemporary appeal. 

'The horizontal layout of the boards and the just-right shade of gray do much to exaggerate the width of the cottage and to balance out the relatively steep pitch of the roof,' says Jennifer Ebert, Homes & Gardens' Digital Editor.

The beautiful porch adorns the front of the home. 'The use of long flower container helps to exaggerate the breadth of the house, and creates a zen space to relax and feel in touch with nature, and is a very in-keeping feature to display summer porch decor,' continues Jen. 

'Joanna has also effectively incorporated authentic, small details into the front of the house, such as the black lamps above the front door, and the black railings which tie in with the black metal porch chairs, creating a coherent theme, all of which creates a feeling of space.'

2. Choose repeated motifs and patterns to enhance space

'The kitchen is a prime example of how to make a small cottage kitchen feel spacious and open through repetition,' says Jo Bailey, Homes & Gardens' Print Editor. 'Joanna's effective use of wooden panels that feature on the house's exterior is repeated vertically in the kitchen to draw the eye upwards to increase the impression of ceiling height. These white wooden ceiling panels are echoed by the country-style kitchen island that tones perfectly with the color of the wooden floor. 

'The pendant lighting over the island matches the wall color perfectly so there's no visual interruption across the space, again, heightening the feeling of space.

'The arched undersides of the kitchen island mirror the wooden arches between the rooms, which is a clever touch that creates a harmony and repetition between original features of the cottage with the new, sleek design.

'Joanna also ties together smaller features in the kitchen by using a brass finish on the kitchen island stools, drawer handles, faucets, lamps, and rail,' continues Jo.

'The dark green kitchen drawers bring the green of nature outside into the house; Joanna's use of plants throughout the property makes the most of the lovely natural landscape beyond the windows. I'd always recommend finding the best indoor plants for a tiny house to elevate any space small space.'

3. Be clever with a small bathroom layout

'Tiny bathroom layouts are often space-compromised, and this one has the added complication of a huge window. The benefit is the space-enhancing natural light that floods in but it does rob the room of useful wall space,' says Lucy Searle, Homes & Gardens' Editor in Chief. 'However, Joanna has cleverly mitigated this with a storage-packed double vanity, with wall-mounted bathroom vanity mirrors that can be angled for use. 

'Joanna has also balanced the white walls and countertop with the natural wooden drawers and vanity to create a warm yet modern feel. Again, the materials and fittings used are coherent with those in the rest of the house, which helps this tiny home feel elegant and curated.'

That's our top three, but let's not overlook the homey living room, in which Joanna again uses horizontal wooden panels on the window seat with white wooden paneling repeated on the wall. This cozy space is a beautiful place for reading and makes hosting so much more fun. The white arched fireplace is effectively minimalist and creates a great centerpiece within the room, with a white tiled section, to make it subtly stand out. 

This truly inviting property that has comfort, practical spaces, and consistent, recurring themes to tie the whole property together is a key example of how to make a tiny home feel larger.

The dusty blue hue, seen below, is a vibrant twist on and a new way to use gray, this year's most controversial color trend.

Celebrities, including Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, have similarly experimented with blue-gray tones in their home and paired them with paintings, unlike Kyle, who lets the color do all the talking. It is unsurprising, therefore, that designers predict this tone will top design trends in the seasons ahead. 

'I believe that gray-blue can become the next significant color trend in interior design. This adaptable hue suits various home styles, and its calming effect contributes to a sense of tranquility within your living space,' comments New York-based designer Artem Kropovinsky.

'One appealing aspect of gray-blue is its ability to create diverse aesthetics. For instance, you can achieve a coastal ambiance by combining gray-blue with white and natural wood tones,' Artem says. 'Alternatively, pair it with black and white to create a more modern appearance.'

In her living room, Kyle strikes a balance between both a traditional and modern aesthetic – incorporating green wooden chairs and a framed map of (what appears to be) Los Angeles in a metallic frame. The gray-blue space also flows into the monochromatic entryway, famed for its black and white tiled floor that is recognizable from the show.

'Regardless of the chosen style, gray-blue adds a sophisticated touch to your home and is likely to remain timeless,' Aterm adds.
